I have visited Manassas National Battlefield Park a few times. One time I went with a friend, and he and I both agreed the first battle gets more attention than the second, although Second Bull (aka Manassas) was much bloodier.

I have read Return to Bull Run a few times and it is a very enjoyable by: A life-long student of military history, Scott C. Patchan is a graduate of James Madison University in the Shenandoah Valley. In doing my research into Second Manassas, I acquired "Return to Bull Run" by John Hennessy and Scott Patchan's book *Second Manassas- Longstreet's Attack and the Struggle for Chinn Ridge", and well as the relevant American Battlefield Trust (ABT) maps to make sense of the battle/5(21).
